Back4Good Programme

Effective exercise for the prevention and management of lower back pain

More than 80% of the population suffer from non specific back pain at some point in their lives.  Lower back pain is also one of the most common reasons for people taking time off work. It can be incredibly painful, debilitating and also frustrating as the cause is often very difficult to pinpoint.

In a publication by NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) medical guidelines recommend that people with persistent non-specific low back pain should be encouraged to stay physically active and exercise.

I'm pleased to say as a Back4Good Practitioner I'm specifically trained as an exercise specialist to help people with non specific low back pain. The recommended exercises, although designed to help with the prevention and management of a lower back pain, have a place in a regular Pilates matwork class and as such many of my sessions incorporate these building blocks as standard.

As Joseph Pilates said himself 'You are only as young as your spine is flexible"
